Apple tart
Yield: 1 9 inch tart
Preheat oven to 450
Ingredients:
Crust
1 cup all purpose flour
1/3 cup 10X powdered sugar
½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter (cold and cut into small pieces)
Method:
In a food processor place the flour and sugar. Pulse and blend together. Add the butter and pulse until dough just begins to come together. Pat the dough into a fluted pan or other 9” pan, cover and refrigerate while you make filling
Filling:
8Oz. cream cheese, room temperature
¼ cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
Method:
In a food processor blend the cream cheese and sugar until smooth. Add the sugar and vanilla and incorporate. Pour the filling into the crust and reserve
Topping:
1/3 cup granulated sugar
½ teaspoon cinnamon
4 cups granny smith apples peeled and cut into ¼ inch slices
1/3 cup sliced almonds
Method:
Toss all ingredients in a large mixing bowl and put on top of the cream cheese mix. Bake in oven for 10 minutes and reduce heat to 400. Continue to bake for 20-25 minutes until apples are golden brown. Let cool to room temperature and serve dusted with powdered sugar.
