Wayl of a Time represents the marriage of two seasoned restaurateurs who share a passion for great food and exceptional service. Cheryl and Waylon Nelson have joined forces, for a second time, to provide their clients with the highest quality food and made to order menus to suit any occasion. They specialize in creating menus that reflect any preferences and requirements you and your guests may have. Wayl of a Time is able to accommodate guests with allergies or any other food concerns. About Cheryl Nelson
Born and raised in Northeast Philadelphia, Cheryl Nelson spent her childhood summers in Atlantic City and other NJ resort towns at the Jersey Shore. Her first summer job was working as a dishwasher in an ice cream parlor in Ventnor, NJ. She continued her summers working in restaurants along the boardwalk in those quaint shore towns. While in college, Cheryl helped finance her undergraduate degree at Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, by working in the University’s cafeteria and managing the on-campus sandwich shop. She went on to earn her master’s degree in Education from Clark Atlanta University, continuing to work in restaurants. This was definitely the beginning of Cheryl’s ultimately stellar restaurant career. For the past 26 years, Cheryl has continued her profession in the foodservice industry, diversifying her practice by working in variety of restaurants including, blues clubs, a traditional Japanese restaurant and several distinguished fine dining spots. Her nine-year career with The Palm Restaurant spanned five cities and catapulted her to the top of the restaurant industry, landing her in Tampa. As General Manager of the Palm’s Tampa location, Cheryl combined her practical experience with her natural ability to create an unforgettable dining experience for each and every guest.
About Waylon Nelson
Waylon Nelson has been cooking most of his life. His informal training began in a small hometown diner in Maine. From there, he attained formal culinary training at Johnson & Wales University in Providence, RI where he earned a B.S. in Foodservice Management and an A.A.S. in Culinary Arts. Waylon’s internship at the renowned New Orleans hot spot, Brennan’s, gave him the edge he needed to outshine his competition and become Chef in other celebrated fine dining locations. Having completed his internship at Brennan’s, Waylon moved to New York to pursue a career with The Palm Restaurant. From there, he relocated to Orlando, FL where he opened their newest location. Proving his ability, he was promoted to Executive Chef within 6 months of the opening. In 2003, Waylon moved to Tampa and signed on with the owners of the Signature Room as the Executive Chef to launch their Channelside location. Again proving his unwavering commitment to his calling, Waylon accepted the position of General Manager of the Signature Room in addition to supervising the culinary department as Executive Chef. Infusing his classic European culinary training with his professional experience, Waylon has become an expert Chef who enjoys creating a various types of cuisine made to order for everyone to enjoy.
